This introductory training course is aimed at offering education to social workers, therapists, psychologists, mental health care providers, and other professionals in Health, Social and Human Services.

This course is brought to you by the Canadian Eating Disorder Collaborative, a network of 3 eating disorder organizations: Body Brave, Eating Disorders Nova Scotia and Bridgepoint Centre for Eating Disorders.

The content covers six core competency areas for those who are shared care professionals or recovery support professionals, as per the NEDC's Workforce Core Competencies:

1. "General knowledge of the clinical features of eating disorders, common treatments and the individual experience of recovery."

2. "Ability to identify warning signs of eating disorders and disordered eating and engage with the person who may be experiencing an eating disorder."

3. "Ability to engage the person with an eating disorder and their family and supports in a non-judgmental manner to motivate engagement with health services."

4. "Ability to support access to an initial response for individuals identified at risk of, or experiencing an eating disorder."
5. "Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary team assessment and care planning within scope of usual professional role and local context"

6. "Knowledge of current clinical practices and standards in the treatment of eating disorders."
